Genes and You: Learning about Genes from a Human Perspective

Genes and You: Learning about Genes from a Human Perspective
Test out your knowledge of the genetics of humans: press here to play the game.

Genes and You is a series of learning resources that was created to help everyone to understand the basic biology of genetics and its personal, social and medical consequences.

It is important for each and every one of us, particularly since we are all carriers of a small number of rare conditions, and the increasing appreciation of the impact of genes in developing common diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes or Alzheimer's disease. These pages are also helpful because they help us to understand our situation and make informed choices about our own future, and appreciate the circumstances which may affect those around us in the community.

These resources use real-life scenarios imaginatively and sensitively, which make exploring these issues very rewarding. (Forward by Alastair Kent, Director of Genetic Interest Group). They can be accessed here.

This was created by the author, Gill Mullinar, and the Genetic Interest Group (GIG) with contributions from a large number of GIG member patient organisations and schools.
