Information for Health Professionals

Welcome

Welcome to ScotGEN's resources for health professionals. We hope that the resources on these pages will enable you to enhance your existing knowledge of genetics and will provide you with useful material to include in teaching presentations.

Register First

First, please register with ScotGEN. Doing so will enable you to become a full member of ScotGEN, giving access to the resources available on these pages. Registering will ensure that you receive our bi-annual Newsletter and regular news Bulletins directly by email.

Resources

You can access a variety of resources using the menu on the left of this page. The Health Pages are being developed to provide information of particular relevance to Health Professionals. We plan to add to this over the coming months, and will focus on developing the Scottish Clinical Genetic Forum pages. Our Learning Resources are divided into 5 subject areas:

Basic principles in genetics

Family history and genetic counselling

Antenatal screening and the newborn

Cancer genetics

Paediatrics and genetics

Under each subject you will find useful learning objects such as animations and factsheets, for you to view, download and print out.

Additional information, including links to many other websites, can be found under Related Resources.

Scottish Clinical Genetic Forum

This page is under development and will evolve over the coming months. At present Guidelines, Documents, Talks and Forms are available.

Evaluation and Feedback

When you download a learning object from the ScotGEN site you will be invited to give us feedback on it. This will enable us to make changes or create new learning objects, as required.

A feedback form will be sent by email 4 weeks after you have downloaded the learning object.

Please contact us if you would like to make any comments about the site. All your comments are welcome and will help us tailor the site to your needs.

We also provide a regulated Message Board, which we encourage you to  use. (You must be registered with ScotGEN to have access to this).
