Educational resources to support the changes to the Pregnancy & Newborn Screeing Programmes  

Introduction

The Chief Executive Letter (CEL) 31 (2008) laid out the developments to the pregnancy and newborn screening programmes for NHS Scotland.

The extension to the newborn blood spot programme to include testing for MCADD and Sickle Cell Disorders began on Monday 4th October 2010.

Pregnancy screening for Sickle Cell Disorders and Thalassaemia and enhancements to the Down's syndrome screening programme will be rolled out by each NHS Board when ready, but no later than 1 March 2011.
