The ScotGEN Steering Group is a collaborative group of health professionals and educators with an interest in genetics education. Each member is affiliated to universities throughout Scotland.
Dr Jonathan BergJonathan Berg is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist for Tayside. This service is based within Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
Dr Roseanne CetnarskyjRoseanne Cetnarskyj is currently the chairperson for ScotGEN and is a lecturer in adult nursing at Napier University, Edinburgh. She also has an honorary contract within SE Scotland clinical genetic service as a genetic counsellor.
Roseanne has developed an On-line Masters level module 'Integrating cancer genetics into healthcare'. This module is suitable for all healthcare professionals. Roseanne's research interests lie in the field of family history and cancer genetics.
Dr Winifred EbohWin Eboh is a lecturer in nursing and midwifery at the Robert Gordon University. Her main area of interest and research is in the major haemoglobinopathies namely sickle cell syndromes and beta thalassaemia major.
Dr Morag GrayMorag has recently left Edinburgh Napier University where she was a Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean (Academic Development). She is now a free-lance Education and Research Consultant.
Dr Wayne LamWayne Lam is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist at the SE Scotland Genetic Services based at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
Mrs Lorna McLeishLorna McLeish is a Genetic Counsellor, based in Dundee.
Zosia Miedzybrodzka is Reader in Medical Genetics and Honorary Consultant Clinical Geneticist, based in Aberdeen.
Professor Mary PorteousMary Porteous is a Consultant Clinical Geneticist and Service Lead for the South East of Scotland Genetic Service. She represents Scotland on the Advisory Board of the National Genetics Education and Development Centre (NGEDC) and is currently Chair of the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) on Specialist Registrar training in Clinical Genetics at the Royal College of Physicians
Gillian Scott is a Community Genetic Counsellor with the West of Scotland Clinical Genetics department. She contributes to public and professional genetic education, and coordinates and represents patient views, to inform political and professional discussions about what genetic services and resources are needed. Gillian is a Genetic Counsellor, and is on the UK Genetic Counsellor Registration Board, which sets and monitors standards for education and registration for the profession.
Sandy Steele has recently joined the ScotGEN steering group, and is a teacher of biology and science at St Joseph's College, Dumfries.
Margaretha Van Mourik is Senior genetic nurse counsellor in the West of Scotland's Regional Clinical Genetic Service and is based at Yorkhill Campus, Glasgow. She has a strategic leadrole in generic genetics and genetic liaison with special interest in the haemoglobinopathies, haemochromatosis, cystic fibrosis and fragile X. Additionally she is involved in genetic counselling issues in pregnancy and newborn screening and also in research.
